We continued on to a local park where refreshments and relaxation were had and silliness ensued on some exercise machines in the park
Is that a storm cloud above us? Is it hailing? Oh wait. That was with the group from LAST year. This year? You know, sunny, pleasant, about 68 degrees. Since it is doubtful you saw the blog from last year, I'm including it below. "MCCONNELL! That is SO mean! Why would you do that?" Because it is pretty funny. Also because you all had such a great attitude about the whole situation and you're all smiling in this picture. Today was a pretty great day. Both classes were over by 12:45 which left plenty of time for a long lunch and a nap before meeting at the aqueduct at 4:30 to walk around the outskirts of the city. The old quarter of Segovia is situated on a hill so there are plenty of walking paths you can follow. It has been snowing in Segovia for the past week or so, much like Denver. NOT! This is pollen but as you can see in one of the photos below, it does in fact look like it is snowing. No, no one went in to anaphylactic shock from the pollen and you can see that Jamie, Amanda, Cordelia and Maisey weren't bothered by it either. We continued past this "winter wonderland of allergy hell" and made our way to just below the alcazar to get a group photo and inadvertently had an impromptu handstand competition. "There can be only one!" Can you guess who won? I love the face on Alex! Afterward, we went to check out the garden below the alcazar where we were greeted by the strangest sound. Yep. Peacocks. If you haven't heard the noise they make, you can listen to it here: We then headed on to La Iglesia de la Vera Cruz which at one time housed a fragment of the True Cross by the Knights Templar. We continued on to a local park where refreshments and relaxation were had and silliness ensued on some exercise machines in the park After play time we climbed our last hill and took the group photo you saw at the top of this post. Something interesting is that the photo was taken just before 8 pm and it was still that sunny. Yes, 8 pm. The light was pretty awesome coming off the field next to us and a bunch of people took advantage of it to take some cool photos. I'll leave you with one of them. Buenas noches!

This "short hike" that McConnell told us we were going on was definitely worth it after seeing the view of the Alcazar. The pollen is extremely weird and annoying, but our hike was still amazing. I especially enjoyed our pit stop in the park, and I think if there were exercise machines like these in America, our kids would not be as obese!!!

AHHHH! This was such an amazing day! The weather was great and the perfect day for a "short hike," according to McConnell. We were able to see so many cool things just in Segovia in one day. Also, sorry to last years group! It sucks that it rained on y'all. But this was definitely a great hike and we saw and learned so many great things about Segovia! I just hope I can do it again, before we have to leave!

This was an amazing hike and the perfect weather for it! The Alcazar was beautiful and I can't wait until we get to tour it! I enjoyed the stop in the park and got to try out the exercise equipment, Spain is full of new adventures! Seeing the white pollen was interesting - if only our pollen back home was this pretty...

Our hike was amazing! Even though we walked practically all afternoon, there were a lot of cool sights and views of the castle, churches, and city. We had perfect weather, I have no complaints and I like that we did the hike at the beginning of the trip because it gave everyone more perspective of the different places in Segovia and allowed people who like to take runs/hikes the ability to come back.

I loved this hike! It was the perfect way to introduce us into Segovia. The weather was amazing which made all the sights even more wonderful. This hike was full of interesting information and was enjoyable as it went at an easy pace with a nice break in the park for a little relaxation and conversation.

This hike/walk/tour of Segovia was absolutely incredible! I am not that outdoorsy but I could handle the work out station meant for older people. The views were amazing as well as the company, this entire group works really well together this hike helped everyone bond some more.

I had so much fun doing this hike! What an awesome way to spend our first day in Segovia, than to see the whole city from up top! I knew after this hike, every excursion after would be unforgettable.

How time flies! I remember this first walk, when we were all just getting to know each other, and no one knew everyone's names. It's so weird to realize how much better our spanish skills have gotten, how much better we all know each other, how the little groups of people that mainly hang out together have changed, how opinions of people have changed, how we've changed...so much in such little time. I'm kind of sad that it's coming to an end tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to traveling elsewhere in Europe!

This first outing was amazing and I felt like a princess when I saw the castle that inspired Walt Disney. The hike was taxing but well worth it. It was interesting to see the excercise park, and made me wonder why there aren't any in the states. I also liked how so many families were out and about enjoying the fresh air. It was cool too that you are able to enjoy a glass of wine outside. Sooo many pelusas but it was amazing nonetheless. Imma have such nice legs when I go home :)

It was such a beautiful day to spend outside hiking around Segovia! It was so awesome to see the Alcazar and the many places we walked to. I really had a good time taking a break in the park before that strenuous hike up to the awesome views of the Alcazar. Leave a Reply. |
